Who I Help

Individuals and Families

I have treated babies as young as 3 days and my oldest patients are in their 90s (and counting). I believe everyone should get their spines checked, just like we visit dentists, eye doctors and family. In today’s world, our stress levels are unimaginable and many people are living in pain. Nobody has time to be off work, away from their sport or generally not feeling good so dealing with issues that aren’t a big deal today but will be tomorrow will make your life easier. I look forward to meeting you and your family and becoming part of your health care team.

Pregnant Woman

Pregnancy is a unique time in a woman’s life filled with new experiences and significant physical changes. As we go further into pregnancy not only are we seeing the physical changes but hormone shifts as well. This can all lead to back pain and discomfort, particularly in the mid to lower back. Once we have the baby we deal with lack of sleep, stress, strange positions for feeding the babies and still a body that is not the same as it was before pregnancy. Chiropractic can help relieve discomfort and help maintain optimal mobility throughout pregnancy and into the new mom phase. Chiropractors can become an important part of your healthcare team in this exciting time.

Children

From birth until puberty, bones are continuously growing and adapting to stresses placed upon them. During this time the nervous system is also developing. When a bone in your child’s spine isn’t in proper alignment these nerves become irritated and can lead to long-term issues. This can also be a time when we are hardest on our bodies with sports, falls, stress, sitting at school and gaming, and many other adventures. Scoliosis can also be detected during early adolescence. Getting your children checked as either preventative maintenance or once an injury has happened can make a difference in their long-term wellness.

Athletes

Chiropractic care can help restore function to spinal joints that are injured and not moving properly. Besides helping to relieve pain, chiropractic care can also help reduce inflammation. Soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments depend upon proper joint movement for peak performance. Correctly applied chiropractic care will not only adjust your spine but will adjust any misaligned joint in the body including (but not limited to) wrists, shoulders, knees and ankles. Dr. Skryzlo has significant experience working with dancers, gymnasts, cheerleaders, baseball, hockey and lacrosse players.

Dancers

Dancers are athletes that are some of the most highly trained individuals in any sport and need to be treated with the respect it deserves. I began to dance in grade 10 and continued forward to teach dance and minor in dance. Dance training can cause injuries from a young age, which, if left untreated, don’t disappear from our bodies as we age. A study in the Journal of Sports and Science on dancers aged 8-16 showed that out of 1336 dancers studied 42.6% reported injuries. Using these statistics and my experience, I would recommend that you or your dancer be checked when any pains, big or small, show up so that you can avoid long-term injuries that can come with dancing.

Seniors

Aging is a natural and normal process that each person must undergo. How quickly this occurs depends on the amount of stress and abuse the body has taken. Chiropractic adjustments have many benefits for my seniors. With movement and education, stiffness and pain can be decreased. We talk about balance and coordination, proper nutrition and water intake, strength and flexibility exercises and general mobility. People believe that once you have arthritis you can’t be adjusted but as this is just a normal part of aging it’s actually more important that you keep your chiropractic visits up as you start seeing some of the effects of aging. I look forward to meeting you and working together to keep your body at its’ best.
